Extra smooth, manageable and healthy, frizz-free hair FOR UP TO 5 MONTHS with this GKhair application -- Italian Style!

Forget Brazilian Blowouts!
Do it Italian Style!

  • LASTS FOR UP TO 5 MONTHS, strengthening and repairing your hair! Instantly feel the amazing results and enjoy frizz-free, soft, ultra shiny hair! (Enjoy hair straightening results, just like with the "Resistant" formula, lasting up to 5 months instead of just 3!)
  • Formaldehyde Free! NO FUMES!
  • Zero wait time to get your hair wet (you don't have to wait 48 hours like you do with the GKhair "Resistant" formula)!
  • Cuts your styling time in half!
Here's what to expect when receiving your GKhair The Best "Italian Style" Application:
  • pH+ shampoo to clarify the hair, leaving in for 3 minutes
  • GK "The Best" formula application
  • Blow dry and flat iron
  • Rinse & apply GKhair Deep Conditioner & GKhair Serum, leaving on the hair 5-8 minutes

GKHAIR HAIR-TAMING TREATMENTS

Five application types to choose from for extra smooth, manageable, and healthy frizz-free hair. Read more about GKhair Hair-Taming Treatments HERE.

"Resistant" Formula GKhair Hair Taming Treatment
GKhair's original formula is for coarser, dry, unruly hair and is an excellent hair smoothing/straightening treatment lasting for up to 3 months. It cuts your styling time in half, giving you smooth, manageable, and healthy frizz-free hair. (Requires special after-care; see HERE for "First 48 hours".) Regular color services can be applied the same day.

"The Best" Formula Treatments
A defrizzing, hair smoothing formula, leaving your hair with the body and curl formation. Formaldehyde Free! NO FUMES! Zero wait time to get your hair wet (you don't have to wait 48 hours like you do with the GKhair "Resistant" or "Curly" formulas)! Cuts your styling time in half!  No formaldehyde! No fumes! The greater the concentration, along with length of time of this Juvexin application, the softer or straighter the hair will become. Must wait 2 weeks for color after "The Best".

GKhair’s “Curly” Formula
This newer formula tames waves, eliminates frizz, repairs damage, and delivers shine. It restores and protects your hair, maintaining its natural properties by creating a shield over each strand, restoring it from the inside out, while protecting against harmful UV rays, pollutants, chemical treatments, and the rigors of daily shampooing and styling. Good for most hair types. (Requires special after-care; see HERE for "First 48 hours".)  Leaves your hair with the most body and curl/wave formation without the frizz. Regular color services can be applied the same day.

GKhair's "Miami Bombshell" Formula
The all-new MIAMI BOMBSHELL Hair-Smoothing Keratin Treatment is the Perfect Rehab for Damaged, Blonde Hair!

Miami Bombshell is GKhair's newest hair-smoothing treatment formulated specifically for blondes!

50 Shades of Not-Gray ... Silver is the New Blonde!

#GrannyHair – Gray Hair Is The Hottest Beauty Trend Of Spring/Summer 2015!

For hundreds of years, gray hair has been synonymous with being old, being a grandmother, or a sign that a woman is “letting herself go,” and women everywhere have fought to “wash that gray right out of their hair.”

But that’s all changed. Women of all ages, from 18 to 81, are embracing gray hair. My clients have been calling me, citing this current trend and saying they are thinking about ditching the dye and letting their natural gray grow in. I think it’s great to be brave in rebelling against a society that is so afraid of aging and judgmental of our elders. It is refreshing to see a trend that challenges the notion that only youthful looks can be beautiful.

Having said that, my best advice is: If you want to embrace your gray, remember that your BEST gray may not be your NATURAL gray. Adding a semi-permanent glosser and cool, ashy highlights can improve the color and texture, and, along with a great haircut, is one of the best-kept secrets of stylish gray-haired women. There’s a shade of gray for every type of complexion. Pewter, Platinum, Silver, Ice, Gainsboro, Gunmetal, Ash Gray, Sterling, Charcoal, Slate, Rocket Metallic, Stone, are among the not-so-natural “50 Shades of Not-Gray”. But I’ll address all that in a minute.

So, how did this trend of younger women going gray emerge?

Jean Paul Gaultier was at the forefront of bringing granny glam into fashion. The models at his Autumn/Winter 2011 show stalked the catwalk with their hair coiffured into striking gray beehives. A year later Kelly Osbourne and Kate Moss both sported silver locks and since then everyone from Rihanna to Nicole Richie have been experimenting with the look.

But BuzzFeed and Instagram credit the current BIG trend to 17-year-old Kylie Jenner, about five months ago (that’s Kylie, as in “Kardashian” … are we surprised?).

As of this writing, the poll on BuzzFeed shows this:

#GrannyHair is the new style trend sweeping social media. The below Elite Daily article has shown up on my personal Facebook wall and Twitter feed a dozen times over the past week alone, and, at the time of writing this blog post, this article been shared 387,000 times!

“In an effort to stay eternally young, most ladies usually run to the salon every time they find a few horrifying silver strands in their color-treated hair.

Now, there’s a beauty trend popping up on our greydar: #GrannyHair. This edgy look is redefining the definition of 'going grey.'

That’s right, grey isn’t just for geriatrics anymore.

Thanks to the #GrannyHair movement, a growing number of girls are getting in on the old lady action and dyeing their ‘dos in all sorts of stunning, silver shades.”

Thinking of trying out the trend for yourself?

Doing Gray the RIGHT Way!

FOUR London's colour specialist Brooke Bohan advises that this isn't the easiest look to achieve: "It can look totally fabulous if done professionally, but beware it is the hardest of all the colours to achieve with no damage to the hair," she cautions.

"The first step is to have a consultation so that a plan of action can be worked out with the client. It will usually take around six months to get hair to the gorgeous grey colour, depending on how much colour build-up the client already has on their hair. You have to grow out as much of the existing colour as possible.

Once the client is back to as much of their natural colour as possible the technique used is to bleach the hair to bring it up to almost white and then put an ash tone over it.

Only go to a reputable colour salon as it is very easy to end up with yellow not grey and demarcation lines where the build-up of colour hasn't been properly removed."

What’s the best way to embrace your NATURAL gray? Glossers (semi-permanent color) add hues of color and shine and can help you achieve a flattering look. If you are already naturally gray, a gloss application will have a very tonal effect as opposed to a solid, opaque color. The gloss will work with the variation of tone that you hair naturally has, allowing for a more subdued shade. Glossers are not as harsh as permanent/regular hair color. A gloss is very acidic and tightly closes the hair cuticle, resulting in a smooth surface texture that will reflect light and have a much softer feel to it. Regular color contains ammonia, which opens up the hair cuticle and deposits color into it, therefore prone to damage the hair, unless you are getting regular deep conditioning or Keratin Treatments. The best thing about glossers is that there's no commitment to it and it's going to fade on its own, within six weeks. So if you want to change your hair color, it won’t interfere with any type of chemical change you may want in the future.

Look fresh, not frumpy -- a great haircut is key to going gray. Celebrities who have opted for gorgeous gray such as Diane Keaton, Judi Dench, Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Emmy Lou Harris all have beautiful haircuts with a few flattering brightening highlights and gloss treatments.

Maintain your gorgeous gray tones by using a silver shampoo to help brighten and remove brassy, unflattering tones. Gray hair has a natural tendency to have yellow tones, and that is definitely one of the 50 Shades of Not-Gray we want to avoid.

Thinking of going gray? Do it the RIGHT way and call Pat Alessi – Salon 1580 for a consultation: 678-361-4247.

Age-Defying Hair Tips from Pat Alessi – Salon 1580

Age-Defying Hair Tips

For age-defying hair styles, your best friends are bangs, layers and highlights. Tousled pieces hide regrowth, so you won’t need frequent touch-ups.

A choppy cut with long bangs and bold, sunny streaks are immediate de-agers.

If you’re thinking red, go blonde; red hair, unless it’s natural, is tough on mature skin tones. It will expose and exaggerate blotchiness, brown spots or sallow undertones, but a honey blond with golden tones works every time.

In your 40s and beyond, TLC is key. Heat styling and chemical processing make hair porous and prone to breakage. Keratin treatments are ideal. Smoother, straighter hair reflects light, de-emphasizing lines and creases in your face. Spend on moisturizing and hair-taming treatments as you would on wrinkle creams.

Your 20-something brunette shade won’t work when you’re 50. Extremely dark hair can look harsh and fake next to mature skin. Erase years by shifting from espresso brown to a softer shade, like maple or chestnut.

If you want to show off your gray, remember that your best gray may not be your natural gray. Adding cool, ashy highlights can improve the color and is one of the best-kept secrets of stylish gray-haired women.

Classic shoulder length, long and straight, or long waves are great for a more youthful look in your 40s. Avoid hair longer than shoulder-length 50+. For short hair, choose a short shag, layered bob, or long bob with bangs.

THE SHOCKING REALITY BEHIND BUYING PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS OUTSIDE A SALON OR SPA

The following blog post was reprinted with permission by Lauri Shea, Ethereal Aura Spa and can be seen HERE. I urge all my clients to read this important message. My response follows.

October 13, 2014
It's very tempting to buy < professional salon products inserted by Pat > at a discount, but it's really not worth it!

A quick search on eBay or Amazon will bring up thousands of products for hair and skin care, often at drastically reduced prices.
Many professional lines, such as MoroccanOil, Aveda, MAC, < GKhair (Global Keratin) inserted by Pat > and Dermalogica, insist that their products are ONLY sold at professional salons, spas, or directly from the company. I've personally talked to reps of these companies, and on many of their websites they specifically say that any products not sold through authorized retailers are neither safe nor recommended. So where do these products come from?
It varies widely. Some of these products CAN be legitimate, but it's very unlikely. Some bottles are real products watered down, some bottles have completely different products in an expensive brand name bottle, some bottles are previously opened or expired, and some -- seriously -- come from dumpsters.
Yes, dumpsters. People dumpster diving at Sephora, Ulta, Sally Beauty, drugstores, < local hair salons and spas inserted by Pat > and beauty supply stores is extremely common. They find expensive products in the dumpster and resell them on eBay, Amazon, or directly to a consumer by posting videos of their product haul on YouTube and transferring money through PayPal.
Not only is this unethical, it's disgusting. There's a reason that those products ended up in the dumpster in the first place, whether they were expired, defective, damaged, or were returned products they could not legally resell. Not only were they not able to be sold before they went into the dumpster, but then they were sitting in a dumpster for an unknown length of time before someone dove in and found them.
Many beauty supply stores will deliberately damage their merchandise in order to prevent people from looting their garbage, but this doesn't stop a lot of people.
"Now what they did... this last time it had makeup all over it, makeup foundation is really hard to get off. This time they used hair removal, and I guess they thought because of the smell it would deter me, but actually it was a lot easier to get off!" - Tanya Ortiz
This has become a business venture for some people. This woman in particular seems to be incredibly proud of herself for dumpster diving at Ulta and selling these products through PayPal. "I just love doing what I do. Why? It's a great way to get free stuff. It's another way I can bless others... I'm going to give you the opportunity to get some stuff that's a little bit pricey, and you don't have to pay the pricey price for it." - Tanya Ortiz
It's not just beauty products - she shows bottles of expired food she's also selling. "Out of date never killed anyone."
At 10:23 she shows an Urban Decay Electric palette, with clear brush marks on it. This poses a serious risk of infection, especially with eye products. You don't know who used it before you, whether they had pinkeye or other extremely contagious diseases. It's just like using somebody else's dirty foundation sponge.
It's also a slap in the face to many beauty professionals. When a hairstylist or esthetician recommends a product, and the client decides to find the "same" product online, they are not paying the professional for his or her time and experience. A stylist or esthetician has gone to school for countless hours to get education, has spent time with this client figuring out which cleanser, < conditioner, hair treatment and chemicals inserted by Pat > tonerexfoliation, moisturizer and sunscreen will work best for their specific skin and hair needs. Instead of paying the professional who cares, buying from these people amounts to paying a criminal for their illegal activities. These people are not authorized to sell these professional products, have no education to determine which product is appropriate for which skin type, or known which people are contraindicated for these products either.
Is it worth it? No. It's disrespectful, it's illegal to sell products you are not authorized to sell, it's disgusting, and it's risky, all to save a few dollars.
Is every single product sold on eBay and Amazon infected with pinkeye? Of course not. But it's not knowing the difference that's dangerous.
Please respect the professionals in the beauty industry and buy direct.

A note from Pat:

Lauri Shea, Ethereal Aura Spa, thank you for reporting on this very important, and potentially dangerous issue. Several of my own clients recently have not purchased, or have returned, GKhair products purchased from me, because they found them lower priced on the internet. I did a search myself, and some of these products were selling for lower than the cost I'm directly paying GKhair for them! I discussed the situation at length with my GKhair (Global Keratin) sales rep, Julie,  and she says that GKhair does NOT sell their products to retailers, only to individual hair salons and beauty schools, and that anything you find on Amazon, eBay, etc. is NOT authentic GKhair products. She says they are probably watered down or not the GKhair product at all. As tempting as it is to buy it cheaper online than from salon professionals, remember that you get what you pay for ... and it's not always pretty!
